The hotel is a beautiful old 18th Century country house offering a high degree of privacy with an emphasis on comfort and personal service in an atmosphere of total relaxation. The restaurant offers superb French cuisine to tempt even the most discerning. The Table d'hote and A la Carte menus have something to suit everyone, including various House Specialities.

For the first course try Medley of Salmon, Gravadlax, Smoked Swordfish, Carpaccio of Tuna and Smoked Salmon served with four sauces or Duo of Quail's eggs on Bubble and Squeak with Hollandaise sauce or Crab and Leek Croquettes with sauce á la Russe. For the main course there is Seafood "Monte do Casal" - Tiger Prawns, Langoustines, Prawns and Monkfish with the special Monte do Casal sauce; John Dorey set on a Roast Celeriac Mash with a Chive Butter Sauce; Shank of Lamb "Pot au feu" stuffed with Dates, Coriander and garlic on a bed of Roast Aubergine Caviar; and Fillet of Beef' 'Columbus' - Prime Fillet flambéed at your Table with Brandy, Cream, Tarragon and a hint of Mustard. To complete the meal we have a tempting Dessert menu which changes each day and includes flambéed dishes such as Crêpes Suzette or Strawberries flambéed at your table with licor Beirao.

In addition to the Table d'hote menu, which changes daily, there is a Vegetarian menu available and at lunchtimes we also offer a light luncheon menu. The quality of the dishes are complimented by the outstanding wines from the wine cellar. The Dessert menu includes flambé dishes and changes every day. There is excellent entertainment during the week featuring a variety of musicians including Eudoro Grade who plays classical guitar and is considered to be one of finest classical guitarists in Portugal.
